About who in Philadelphia actually went to work today

Who in Philadelphia actually went to work today?
Did you go to the parade today? Did your boss give you off or did you have to take a personal day? Also how many people just called out sick. I was off but had to use a personal day and it was so worth it. Way to go PHILLIES!!!!!

Um. If you're working, why are you filing for unemployment?
2 :
The state you work in. You employer contributes to the fund from which you draw, so it would be PA. If it's not correct, they will certainly tell you.
3 :
It will all depend on which state your employer posts your earnings, but that doesn't matter to you. File in your home state and when they look up your earnings they will let you know if you need to contact the other statesw agency. They will give you all of the info you need.

Do you have a portfolio of your work? If so, then you are halfway there. If not, get busy - that is step #1, and you will use it so much more than you think. A portfolio does not have to be fancy - if you are on a budget (like me) a nice plain photo album with GOOD pictures representing your work. Note 'Current Available Pieces' as well as 'Past Sold Works'. Get some cheap but nice looking business cards (Vistaprint.com) You do not even have to have that part done yet to go scope out some galleries. Visit as a shopper and see who carries local artists. Pay attention to the types of art they have in the gallery as well as the price ranges and ask yourself if yours would 'fit'. When you have a decent portfolio & cards, go BACK to the galleries that support local artists and that you think would be a good fit for your style. SMILE. Introduce yourself, and start asking some questions. Show your portfolio; hand them a business card. Ask if they have a jury process, or if there are certain times that they accept new art. What is thier commission? Make sure you always have a smaller, easily portable ACTUAL piece with you at all times!! (If that is possible for what you do) Remeber that you have to sell yourself and your own talent first if you are going to get anywhere. Good Luck!

the realistic thing in the beginning is to participate in group shows. Look for calls for artists in your area and see whether you have art pieces which match what they are looking for. Then apply to participate. Usually there is a non-refundable fee of $10-$20 involved. If your art gets selected you get to be in a show.
