About memorial day traffic from NYC to Philadelphia, Friday after work

Memorial day traffic from NYC to Philadelphia, Friday after work?
Leaving tomorrow after work (~6pm) to Philly. 1) Park in midtown, leave through Lincoln Tunnel 2) Park around 125th, leave across the George Washington Bridge 3) Travel back home to Westchester, leave across the Tappan Zee Which is the least painful solution? And should I try to avoid I-95 going down there?
New York City - 4 Answers

1 :
1) is the only way this the others are out of the way quite a bit. Bring music and be of good cheer, since you can't beat the traffic anyway.
2 :
They are all suicide inducing options. I dont even want to think about it...
3 :
Park Midtown >head downtown & exit Manhattan via the Holland Tunnel Take I-78 West to the NE Extension of the PATPKE and on into Philly Pay close attention on the I-78 to I-476 connection b/c it's poorly designed
4 :
It will be hectic especially because they're predicting nice weather for a change. Use mass transit. It may be quicker and cheaper too with the gas prices go up so much!

I know that Rita's hires at 14 and so does McDonalds... but other than that, just go around to places that have signs that say they're hiring, and ask what age they hire at.
2 :
Find a mom and pop store that is looking for help. You would be better off if you can find an under the table/cash paying job anyway. A local deli, restaurant or shop is your best bet.
3 :
At 14 you'll have a tough time working anywhere besides McDonald's, Rita's, or Toys R Us. Once you turn 15 you'll have lot more opportunities for more fun jobs. Of course, I say fun because you won't be rewarded with money.

About discrimination at work place (philadelphia, pa)

Discrimination at work place (philadelphia, pa)?
a friend works in the Philadelphia pa area. She feels like she is some times discriminated at work. She wants to files charges at some type of state labor board. What would she need to do to go about that. She doesn't want to go to a lawyer because she doesn't have the money. How does she get a hold of the labor board? or some other type of labor type board? Thanks for any help..sorry for any misspelled words I'm at the library and am out of time at the computer i'm on.

If you feel that you have been the victim of discrimination and want to begin the complaint process, you need to file your complaint with one of the Commission's three regional offices. The county is determined by the location of the alleged act of harm -- NOT the county in which you live. For example, you live in Berks County, but you work in Montgomery County. Your complaint would be filed with the Philadelphia Regional Office. http://sites.state.pa.us/PA_Exec/PHRC/offices/regional_map.html

About do you even have to get out of elementary school to work for the Philadelphia Parking Authority

Do you even have to get out of elementary school to work for the Philadelphia Parking Authority?
Today I parked on a Phila street, asked the meter maid, which of these meters do I use. (because the double meters were about midway of my passengerside door). A car was parked in front of me and One behind me. She was writing a ticket on the one in front. She pointed and said that one is yours. I put money in the meter, went into the bank. I happened to see a different maid outside putting a ticket on my car. I ran and explained that that lady right there told me which meter was mine. The other metermaid explained that it was her fault. She calls the supervisor and she tells me to call the # on the ticket and go to court. she tells the lady to void the ticket on the car in front. I wanted to know why she would not void my ticket. She explained that I used the wrong meter...that's why. I will fight the $25 ticket. Good thing I had my camera phone. some people should know that carma is a b- - - -.

It is good you write this crap because these people have to be stopped. They are a Government Agency out of control, with no intention of doing what's right, and no concern for the public whom they screw everyday. You have to waste time going to court. What if your car was towed? The reason that they were there when you came back was that they were getting ready to tow it. That would had been $200 plus. They are in charge of fining and collecting fines, and also in charge of the cab industry which they call a 'hospitality initiative".. THEY MAKE ME SICK

You can apply at any restaurant in the area. Grocery stores will hire bag boys. Lawn care or light construction but they usually want year round help during the day. Bike messengers in downtown. Most retail places are worth checking into if you know something about what they sell..
2 :
Go to any ACME and your practically guaranteed a bagger position (or maybe even a cashier). We're always looking for new people over the summer, and you get good hours and good pay.

Yes. The Philadelphia City Wage Tax applies to all taxable compensation to residents of Philadelphia, even if earned outside of Philadelphia, and to non-residents for services performed within Philadelphia.

You always pay taxes where you live, not where you work.

Is it a good idea to live in New York and work in Philadelphia?

Philadelphia - 9 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :

And commute daily? Not a good idea.
2 :
Not to mention that they're two hours apart. You'll get sacked with taxes. You'll pay New York City income tax PLUS Philadelphia non-resident wage tax.
3 :
it would be rather inconvenient and quite expensive to commute and also pay unusually high taxes in two locations. It is also more common to live in or near Philadelphia and commute to NYC than the reverse. That is because housing tends to be much more expensive in NYC than Phila. or its suburbs.
4 :
thats really far away, if u wanna work in philly i suggest south nj.
5 :
no, that's a bad idea. Too far of a commute and you'll be taxed so much that it's just not going to be economical.
6 :
Why on earth would you do that? o_O Absolutely not it's like a 5 hour commute.
7 :
Nobody with brains or money wants to live in NY. The tax policy & bridge tolls alone make it a reason to leave. Even a pack of cigs cost your first born male child up there....
8 :
I would not unless this is a dire situation. I live in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia and its about an hour and a half to manhattan (I'm assuming you're in the new your city area) It will take you probably 3 hours or more during rush hour to get here.
9 :
A commuter ticket on the Amtrak train between New York and Philadelphia is $1,242.00 per month. It'd have to be a heck of a job. Normally people who work in Philadelphia live in the city or in nearby parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware.

Look in the yellow pages under "Physicians & Surgeons MD - Endocrinology & Metabolism". They should all be listed there, and you can call their offices to check their affiliations. It's great that you're being proactive about this, by the way. Many women just get pregnant and then have to deal with the pain of miscarriage because their bodies weren't in good enough control yet.

I don't know of one place in particular, but I'd definitely head to Jeweler's Row (Sansom St between 7th &8th, and 8th St between Chestnut & Walnut). There are so many great businesses that will do custom-made jewelry for you, so I'm sure you'll be able to find a number of places, and even shop around for the best deal, since they're all in one location and know they're dealing with alot of competition.

About I live in New Jersey, and work in Philadelphia. I'm having no state withheld from my check. What do I do

I live in New Jersey, and work in Philadelphia. I'm having no state withheld from my check. What do I do?
I moved to NJ in January, and now I'm getting paid more. Doesn't make sense, and my employer has no clue what is going on. I'm going to get nailed at the end of year...I know it. What can I do? Ok, so Doctor Deth really helped me out. However, does this mean that I will not have any state withholding removed at all? Either from PA or NJ?
United States - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Have the employer start taking it out now and let them take out an extra $10 a pay period to make up for what you haven't had withheld so far.
2 :
New Jersey and Phila/PA have what is called a reciprocal tax agreement - you can claim the phila wage taxes you pay on your NJ tax return - they are treated the same as if they were NJ state taxes withheld - you still might not get enough withheld to fully cover your NJ taxes, so put aside an extra 1-2% of your pay just in case - come tax return time
3 :
You need to tell your employer that they need to be withholding NJ state taxes from your check. If for any reason they give you a hard time about it, call the NJ Department of Taxation and let them know your employer is refusing to withhold. If your move was effective Jan 1 - You won't end up paying to PA due to the reciprocal agreement, just the state you live in. That is all the reciprocal is, you pay and file in the state you live in not where you work. HOWEVER, say you moved Jan 15th = = you will file your tax return for part-year PA (Jan 1 - 14) and part-year NJ (Jan 15 - Dec 31). You do need to get this straightened out and your employer should do this correctly. Absolute worst-case scenario - have them withhold PA taxes, you will have to file returns in both states and you'll get a refund from PA and have to pay into NJ.

Where should I live and work in Philadelphia, PA?
I am planning on moving on a whim... just need to get outta my current situation and try something new! I currently live in MS, so I know it would be completely different... but i need to live somewhere with public transportation because I don't have a car... and I have a cousin that lives there... just need some advice on where to live and work.

Really don't know what your education level is to tell you what work is available for you. But honestly I live in Philly and the city is broke. Heck the state employees have not been paid since early July and not expecting a check to some time in September go somewhere else.
2 :
I wouldn't move without a job unless your cousin is going to let you stay there until you get on your feet. There is pretty high unemployment right now. Also unless you are willing to live in a really bad neighborhood with a lot of really street smart people which I don't think you are used to in MS you will be paying pretty high rent compared to what you are used to. I think moving in with your cousin sounds safer and better and will give you a chance to see if you like it. BTW almost anywhere in Philly has public transportation so that shouldn't be a problem.

About do I have to pay Philadelphia City tax if I am a resident of Delaware and work in Philadelphia

Do I have to pay Philadelphia City tax if I am a resident of Delaware and work in Philadelphia?
I live in Delaware and commute to Philly every day for work. I pay city tax but why?
United States - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Because you work in Philly. You earned money there, hence it's subject to their taxes.
2 :
Yes, you are liable for the Philadelphia Wage Tax. The tax is due from anyone who works in Philadelphia regardless of where they live and from Philadelphia residents regardless of where they work. Why? Because that's the law. Normally if the tax is withheld from your wages there is no need to file a city tax return.
3 :
You pay Philly Wage Tax because you use the services of Philadelphia when you go to work. You also pay Pennsylvania income tax, because you use the services of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania when you go to work. You don't think those streets and highways, police protection, pay for themselves. I live in Delaware and work in Pennsylvania four months each winter. And I pay Pennsylvania and city taxes there each year. At least the city where I work only charges 1% instead of the 3.5% they take in Philly for non-residents.
